Òscar O. Santos-Sopena

Òscar O. Santos-Sopena is Associate Director for Students Affairs, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at ETSIDI-UPM and Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Linguistics at the same University. He has taught numerous Spanish and Foreign Languages courses at The Catholic University of America (Washington, DC), University of Maryland-College Park (USA), Universidad de las Américas (Mexico), West Texas A&M University (USA), Antonio de Nebrija University, and UNED. His lines of research and teaching revolve around Cultural studies, Digital Humanities, and communication processes in intercultural/multicultural contexts. In addition, he studies the socio-cultural/intercultural connections and transmissions between language, culture, and critical socio-cultural thought in the Iberian Peninsula and Mediterranean tradition. Likewise, he has worked within cultural studies concepts and disciplines such as cinema, identity, and its relationship with European-International contexts. Currently, he works on intercultural competence and mediation in teaching English and Spanish for professional and academic purposes in professional contexts, competencies, STEAM, Service-Learning, and SDG.
