Carolina Fernández-Castrillo

Carolina Fernández-Castrillo is Associate Professor of Intermediality and Digital Innovation at Carlos III University of Madrid. Her contribution to Media Archaeology was recognized by Sapienza University of Rome (European PhD summa cum laude), the UCM Extraordinary PhD Award, and the Excellence Mention from Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University. She is a founding member of the Venice Centre for Digital and Public Humanities at Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, where she leads research and third mission projects on Media Artivism, a new concept that she introduced at the Biennale Arte Venezia to promote ecomedia literacy against disinformation from new formats for digital journalism and civic engagement. She was visiting scholar at Yale University, ZKM, Bayreuth Universität, and FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, among others. She was also responsible for the area of Experiential Learning at New York University-Madrid. Currently, she is the coordinator of Digital Communication and Culture at the Spanish Association of Media Research (AE-IC).
